1000+ EuroDIGers in 2020
By yesterday evening, we were coming up to 1000 registered participants for #EuroDIG2020<https://twitter.com/search?q=%23EuroDig2020&src=typeahead_click&f=live> which is an amazing outcome. We cannot wait to see you all in the sessions! The registration<https://www.eurodig.org/index.php?id=573&no_cache=1> closes tonight, June 9, midnight CEST. Only by registering, participants receive personalized credentials to actively participate in the sessions, while all others can still watch the live streams. As soon as tomorrow, we will start with our programme<https://eurodigwiki.org/wiki/Consolidated_programme_2020>, the overarching theme being “Towards a sustainable governance of the Internet”.
The programme follows three tracks, each track is hosted by a partner studio. Studio the Hague, powered by the NL IGF<https://www.nligf.nl/en/>, hosts all plenaries and keynotes, as well as several workshops. The lunch breaks are going to be filled with Big Stage talks and performances – a new format, which allows us to show you things that do not fit our usual session structure.
Studio Berlin, supported by the German Informatics Society<https://gi.de/>, hosts workshops on security and crime, and innovation and economic issues. During lunch, Studio Berlin turns in a networking space, where you can chat with other participants.
Studio Trieste is powered by the International Center for Theoretical Physics<https://www.ictp.it/>, which would have been our host in Trieste this year and now hosts virtual workshops on innovation, media, and access and literacy. In the breaks, Trieste will treat you to some innovative music.
The EuroDIG2020 programme kicks off tomorrow, June 10, with several pre-events that make up our Day 0. We hope to see you over the next days!
The Org Teams, led by our Focal Points<https://eurodigwiki.org/wiki/EuroDIG_2020_%E2%80%93_FocalPoints>, who have organised the sessions collaboratively over the past months, have done wonderful work. We are proud to have high-level guests such as Paola Pisano, Italian Minister for Technological Innovation and Digitalisation, Roberto Viola, Director General DG CONNECT of the European Commission, and many more.
The past weeks and months have been a challenging time for many. We hope that you and those close to you have been safe and healthy, and we are happy that so many in the EuroDIG community have stayed engaged.
Switching to a fully virtual meeting comes with limitations, but also allows for even more openness. We hope you are as excited as we are! See you on the net (specifically: www.eurodig.org<http://www.eurodig.org/>)!
We also want to point you to the public consultation of the European Cmmission on the Digital Services Act that is now open. With this public consultation, the views of citizens and businesses on how to design a modern regulatory framework for digital services and online platforms in the EU shall be gathered.
Here are the links to more information on the DSA<https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/digital-services-act-package> and the survey<https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/Digital_Services_Act>.
