Dear all,
Apologies for the long silence. Thank you Michael for the nomination to reprise my role as co-chair. I am also very humbled and thankful for the warm support this nomination has received. I was not planning to step forward due to personal commitments, but the very encouraging words made me reconsider my decision, and after careful consideration I am happy to accept the nomination. I may feel "a bit overstretched” at times, but with the support of this strongly committed, and very active Steering Committee, if successful in the election, I will be honoured to continue working with you all in that capacity. There is still one more day to go until the nomination period is over, and I hope that others will join me as candidates for the incoming co-chair position.
Thank you Atef for highlighting the endorsement issue. I apologise on behalf of the SC about the unwritten rule: I believe we have been acting on precedent, and we will make it clear in future SC election processes. In the meantime, I urge you not to be discouraged, but rather to see this as an opportunity to contribute to the improvements of the Coalition’s governance, to ensure that our procedures are transparent and accessible to all.
Hanane, it has been great working with you! Thank you so much for your great contribution to the IRPC and look forward to working with you in future projects.
Warm regards,
Minda

Dear Atef and Micheal,
Thanks for your email and for raising these concerns. It’s important to ensure this process is indeed transparent to ensure the right candidate is selected.
Atef, you have an impressive track record and you stand all the chances. As an entry point to our work, it’s important to contribute to the work for people to get acquainted with you and your input. On that basis, the community will then make its choice based on merit relating to the very work we are doing. This is at least how I got elected as a Co-chair previously.
I take this opportunity to inform you all that I will not carry on as SC member of IRPC due to other commitments, but I will follow its work closely as a member.
Sincerely
Hanane Boujemi

Dear Atef, all:
I was not aware of that condition either. I appreciate your support for IRPC as well as Mohamed's contributions, so although it may be a bit unorthodox, I am happy to second your nomination in the interests of a fair and transparent election.
In the meantime, can anyone from the current Steering Committee share the code of practice for elections?
Best,
-Michael

Subject: Election process
Dear IRPC,
I am sending this email because I don't feel that the election process is not fair and transparent; first, because I nominated myself two days before the other candidate, by sending an email to IRPC dated on 9 September but IRPC didn't reply to me neither forwarded my email of nomination to the IRPC list.
Second, based on procedures and guidelines for nominees, IRPC didn't mention that a seconder mustn't be a member of SC, but this article/condition was added later. Actually I didn't know the members of IRPC personally except Mr. Mohamed Farahat who knows me, and I decided to nominate myself before the other candidate to serve only the coalition for better work and progress for IRPC, my country, and region. Anyway, I withdrew myself nomination because I feel the election process is not fair nor transparent.
Thank you, and I wish you all the best.
Please read my email of nomination dated on 9 September, forwarded.
