[IRPCoalition] Fwd: Swiss vote on Public service media / votation en Suisse sur la financement du service public des médias

Dear CDMSI members, observers and participants,

At the last plenary meeting of the CDMSI, the worrying issue of the
future vote in Switzerland on the funding of public service media was
raised.

Following yesterday  vote, we thought important to share this
information on the final results of the Swiss vote on Public service
media, communicated by Giacomo Mazzone (EBU). We thank him for his
detailed message.

We know how much Public Service Media is important for the CDMSI and we
are happy to inform you that  the popular initiative to abolish the
financing of SRG-SSR has been overwhelmingly rejected, with a 71 %
against and only 29 % in favour.

All the 26 Swiss cantons and all municipalities have rejected the
proposal with a score going from 61% in Schwyz to 78% in Neuchatel.

/Nous savons l’importance que le CDMSI attache aux médias de service
public et nous sommes heureux de vous informer de ce que l’initiative
populaire destinée à abolir le financement de la SRG-SSR a été très
largement rejetée, par 71% des voix contre et seulement 29% des voix pour./

/La totalité des 26 cantons et municipalités ont refusé cette
proposition, les scores les plus élevés du NON étant de 61% à Schwyz et
78% à Neuchâtel.  /
