_Subject_: Request for CDMSI comments on the draft Recommendation on the
Protection of Health-Related Data revised by the Bureau of the Committee
of Convention 108

Dear CDMSI members, observers and participants,

The Bureau of the Committee of Convention 108 has issued a draft
Recommendation on the Protection of Health-Related Data, due to replace
Recommendation CM/Rec(97)5 on the Protection of Medical Data. The Bureau
is now seeking comments from other interested Committees of the Council
of Europe (CDMSI and DH-BIO), to be received by *19 March*, before the
draft is examined at the 36^th Plenary meeting of the Committee (19-21
June 2018).

In order to meet the deadline the Secretariat proposes the following steps:

-          by *22 February: *CDMSI members, observers and participants
provide comments on the draft Recommendation to the Secretariat;

-          by *27 February: *the**Secretariat prepares the draft CDMSI
comments and sends them to the Bureau;

-          by *6 March*:  the CDMSI Bureau sends its comments to the
Secretariat;

-          by *8 March*: the Secretariat sends the draft as proposed by
the Bureau to the CDMSI members, observers and participants for approval
by e-mail by *14 March*.

Please find enclosed the English and French versions of the draft
Recommendation. Kindly send all your comments by *22 February* to
_francesca.montagna at coe.int <mailto:francesca.montagna at coe.int>_, copy
Anne.Boyer-donnard at coe.int <mailto:Anne.Boyer-donnard at coe.int>.

projet de Recommandation sur la Protection des données relatives à la
santé, destinée à remplacer la Recommandation CM /Rec (97) 5 sur la
Protection des données médicales. Le Bureau invite d’autres Comités
pertinents du Conseil de l'Europe (CDMSI et DH-BIO) à formuler leurs
