Subject: [DC] 3 April 15:00 UTC: IGF DCs Webinar on Global AI Governance for Humanity’s Benefit
Dear all,
We are delighted to invite you to register and participate at the first IGF DCs Webinar on Global AI Governance for Humanity’s Benefit on 3 April, Thursday, 15:00 UTC:
https://intgovforum.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_-Oc96mHoR4CyTs31W6sCJg (registration link).
Background:
The United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF)<https://intgovforum.org/en> serves to bring people together from various stakeholder groups in discussions on digital public policy. As a year-round process, the IGF includes policy, outreach, and community and capacity-building activities, all dedicated to facilitating a common understanding of how to maximise digital opportunities and address digital risks and challenges. IGF intersessional work culminates in annual meetings, where delegates discuss current and critical issues, share good practices and exchange policy recommendations with one another.
The concept for Dynamic Coalitions (DCs)<https://intgovforum.org/en/content/dynamic-coalitions> first emerged at the IGF's inaugural meeting in Athens in 2006, with a number of coalitions establishing themselves at that time. Today there are 32 DCs that are open, multistakeholder groups dedicated to an Internet governance issue or set of issues.
The IGF DCs Global Webinar Series will launch with its first session, Global AI Governance for Humanity’s Benefit, bringing together policymakers, technologists, civil society, and thought leaders. The aim is to foster global collaboration to ensure AI benefits all of humanity.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming every sector and will have a lasting impact on humanity in the times to come. Yet, rapid AI adoption also raises concerns around ethics, privacy, bias, and misuse. The absence of a unified global governance framework risks widening inequalities and exacerbating societal divides.
Objectives include fostering dialogue on the potential of AI, Ethical AI governance, Role of Stakeholders, AI and SDGs – GDC, and capacity building for AI.
Duration of the webinar: 60 min
The webinar will address the following:
1. Is the FOMO of AI real?
2. Challenges of using AI
3. Role of stakeholders in Global Standards & Open Access: Creating inclusive, culturally aware AI governance frameworks.
4. How can AI contribute to UN’s SDGs & Global Digital Compact.
5. Capacity Building: what we need to do in terms of capacity building to avoid another AI-Digital Divide
