Please see below an invitation by the Council of Europe Committee on
Media and the Information Society (CDMSI) for input into an upcoming
recommendation. As observer to the CDMSI, members of the IRP Coalition
are able to comment on any of these proceedings as invited.

Dear CDMSI members, observers and participants,

 

The Committee of Ministers has invited the CDMSI to comment on PACE
Recommendation 2111 (2017) on “Political influence over independent
media and journalists”, adopted at the 26th sitting of PACE(Strasbourg,
29 June 2017), by *16 November 2017.*

In order to meet the deadline the Secretariat proposes the following steps:

 

-          by *6 October: *CDMSI members, observers and participants
provide comments on the Recommendation to the Secretariat;

-          by *11 October: *the**Secretariat prepares draft CDMSI comments;

-          on *19-20 October*: discussion of draft CDMSI comments at the
CDMSI-Bureau meeting;

-          by *25 October*: the Secretariat sends the draft as proposed
by the Bureau to the CDMSI members, observers and participants for
approval by e-mail by *8 November*.
