Dear members of the IRPC,
The IGF 2024 in Riyadh (and online) is going to start in a few days (15-19
December 2024). See here for more details:
https://www.intgovforum.org/en/content/igf-2024
The Coalition’s steering committee put together a set of workshops and
meetings for the IGF.
Due to a number of cancellations due to illness and declined funding this
year, we need to re-arrange the plans made for the IGF. The hybrid annual
meeting of the IRPC will now occur as a new year event in mid-January,
taking stock of the IGF24. We will send around details later and we will
offer two separate timings, covering many time zones. Some sessions, such
as the 0-Day event “Fit-for-future? A visioning exercise on digital
cooperation” with IT for Change, the Global Digital Justice Forum, the
Digital Constitutionalism Network and the Dynamic Coalition on Platform
Responsibility (DCPR), or the Dynamic Coalitions Main Session, will move
forward just with online-participation or moderation by IRPC SC members.
However, most crucially, two planned sessions of the IRPC are at risk as no
member of the IRPC steering committee (SC) is able to attend the IGF 2024
in person.
We would cordially invite any member of the IRPC, who is going to be in
Riyadh on-site, to support our two sessions, which are currently not able
to go ahead due to lack of in-site moderator/organizer. These are:
IGF 2024 AI and Disinformation: Safeguarding Elections
- Wednesday December 18, 2024 16:45 - 17:45 GMT+03
- Contact: Dennis Redeker (dennisredeker at gmail.com)
IGF 2024 DCPR Information Integrity: Human Rights & Platform
Responsibilities.
- Thursday December 19, 2024 13:15 - 14:45 GMT+03
- Contact: Yasmin Curzi (yasmincurzi at virginia.edu)
These sessions are planned and come with speakers, both online and on-site.
The SC (and the DCPR) is able to support remotely, as rapporteurs and
online moderators. However, it is essential to have someone in the room to
make arrangements with the technical team and who can facilitate physical
interactions in the room.
If you are in Riyadh and able to support us, please reach out to Dennis or
Yasmin (DCPR) respectively.
Best wishes,
The IRPC Steering Committee
