        To provide an opportunity for learning about and discussing the
        human rights and media freedom context in Ethiopia.

      *

        To create an opportunity for people who would like to
        participate in the 2022 IGF in Addis Ababa to ask questions they
        might have about safety concerns, in the context of the recent
        conflict in the northern parts of the country.

      *

        To facilitate interaction between civil society, digital rights
        activists and members of the technical community in Africa and
        globally with those working in Ethiopia.

      *

        To facilitate interaction between CSOs who plan to participate
        in the IGF with the IGF Secretariat and the Ethiopian IGF
        Committee.

    *Moderator: Anriette Esterhuysen, Senior Advisor, Internet
    Governance, APC and outgoing IGF *

    1. Opening remarks and welcome – APC and CIPESA (4 minutes total)

    2. Preparation for IGF 2022 – input from the host country government
    and from the IGF Secretariat Dr. Abiyot Bayou Tehone,
    Director-Digital Transformation Program, Ethiopia Ministry of
    Innovation and Technology and Mr. Chengetai Masango, Head of the IGF
    Secretariat (14 minutes -7 mins each)

    3. Short historical overview of recent history in Ethiopia (e.g.
    last 50 years) and how this led to the current situation - Dr.
    Mesenbet Assefa, Addis Ababa University (7 minutes)

    4. Overview of the current human rights context in Ethiopia –
    achievements and challenges – Mr. Fisseha Tekle, Amnesty
    International (7 minutes)

    5. Overview of the state of internet access in Ethiopia – Ms Berhan

    Overview of internet access shutdowns in Ethiopia – Ms Felicia
