Dear colleagues,

I trust you’re well (and apologies for any cross posting). On behalf of
Minda Moreira and myself, we want to update you on some opportunities
regarding ICT sustainability at this year’s European Dialogue on Internet
Governance (EuroDIG <https://eurodig.org/>), which will take place as a
hybrid event (online and in Trieste, Italy) from 20-22 June.

Over the past few years, we’ve worked hard to ensure that ICT
sustainability – an issue of paramount importance – can have its own
dedicated space among Internet policy discussion fora, such as EuroDIG.

Last year, we held a great session
<https://eurodigwiki.org/wiki/Greening_Internet_Governance,_Part_II_%E2%80%93_Enabling_an_Environmentally_Sustainable_Digital_Transformation_in_Europe_%E2%80%93_FS_01_2021>
that
built on 2020’s work <https://eurodigwiki.org/wiki/PL_04_2020> and focused
on the practical considerations/solutions Europe needs to take via
concerted multi-stakeholder engagement to make ICTs more sustainable,
ranging from energy to circular economics.

Ultimately, we are keen to continue fostering a EuroDIG network that
ensures people/groups are talking to one another. Thus, to follow up on
this work, we want to bring your attention to two events that will take
place at EuroDIG in June:

   1. A 90-minute, Day 0 open-forum (Pre 08
   <https://eurodigwiki.org/wiki/Pre_08_2022>)
   2. A 60-minute workshop on day 1 (WS 1
   <https://eurodigwiki.org/wiki/WS_01_2022>)

*For the Day 1 workshop*, the organising team is already hard at work (and
you’re welcome to join too – sign up here
<https://list.eurodig.org/mailman/listinfo/ws1_2022>). It is focusing on
whether or not European societies are making the progress needed to to
realise its green digital ambitions.

*For the Day 0 event* – and in-line with some of the conclusions enshrined
in the messages from 2020 and 2021 – we want to use this space as an
opportunity for any interested stakeholder working in this space to update
each other on new developments and opportunities for collaboration on ICT
sustainability over the next year. It can also be an opportunity to
identify blind spots in current discussions or advocacy. The Day 0 event
will also be a good opportunity to introduce the newly formed Dynamic
Coalition on the Environment (DC-E
<https://www.intgovforum.org/en/content/dynamic-coalition-on-environment-dce>),
which evolved from the Internet Governance Forum's (IGF) Policy Network on
the Environment (PNE
<https://www.intgovforum.org/en/content/policy-network-on-environment-pne>)
after releasing its report earlier this year.

In case you’re interested in the Day 0 event, *please reply directly to me* so
I can create a dedicated email chain and we can take it forward together
(while keeping these lists for more general announcements).

Thank you for your continued work on and interest in this topic. We look
forward to bringing our messages back to EuroDIG!

Best,

-Michael & Minda
