Dear Marianne and IRPC Folks,
Yes, we are still looking for input! (Follow this link to comment: https://openinternet.global/comment-draft-principles) Feedback about what these principles look like in practice on the ground is needed. Especially for the sections on Personal Safety & Security, Inclusion, and Network Equality. Also, if people have more examples of ways these principles are being infringed, that would also be useful. Ultimately, this framework will be used for digital rights literacy efforts aimed at increased the diversity of participants in global Internet governance. All feedback is welcome!
A number of the organizations involved in this effort will be at IGF. On Thursday December 21st at 11 I’ll be moderating a panel titled “Censors, Fake News, and Trolls: Democracy Denied Online.” Hanane Boujemi, who everyone on this list knows, will be one of the panelists. It’d be great if other IRPC folks could be there. We will be discussing the finalized version of these principles during that session.
Please keep me in the loop about other IRPC events at this year’s IGF. I’d love to get more involved!
Cheers,
Daniel

Dear Daniel
Thank you for sending over the final version of this document.
Are any of your team attending the IGF this year?
Is there any particular sort of input you are looking for at this stage? A number of IRPC members provided input in the drafting stage so thanks again for letting us know there is another chance to have our say.
best wishes
MF

IRPC Colleagues,
I’m sharing a post I wrote for CIMA’s blog about the collaborative development of a Democratic Framework to Interpret
Open Internet Principles - Open Internet Principles for Democracy: Putting Media Freedom Front and Center<https://www.cima.ned.org/blog/open-internet-principles-democracy-putting-media-freedom-front-center/> (https://www.cima.ned.org/blog/open-internet-principles-democracy-putting-media-freedom-front-center/). CIMA is encouraging our network of journalists, media reformers, and media development practitioners to become engaged in discussions surrounding Internet norms and principles.
The new framework<https://openinternet.global/comment-draft-principles>, which is based off of IRPC’s 10 Rights and Principles, is open for input until Friday November 17th. The more input and engagement it gets, the more useful it will be going forward.
If you’re interested in learning more about this initiative, please visit the project website https://openinternet.global.
Cheers,
Daniel
