Below is a call from the Council of Europe Steering Committee on Media
and Information Society that would benefit from the expertise of all our
members. As observer, the IRPC can send in comments. If anyone has
anything to add to the two recommendations below, please let us know so
the SC can collate and send over.

Dear CDMSI members, observers and participants,

 At its 1277th meeting on 8-9 February 2017, the Committee of Ministers
is expected to communicate to the CDMSI for information and possible
comments, by *22 March 2017, *PACE Recommendation2097 (2017) – “Attacks
against journalists and media freedom in Europe” and PACE Recommendation
2098 (2017) – “Ending cyberdiscrimination and online hate”,  adopted at
the 1st Part of the 2017 Session of the Parliamentary Assembly (23-27
January 2017)*.*

In order to meet the deadline the Secretariat proposes the following steps:

 

-          by *24 February: *CDMSI members provide comments on the two
Recommendations to the Secretariat;

-          by *2 March*: Secretariat prepares and sends draft CDMSI
comments to Bureau for endorsement/comments by *7 March;*

-          by*9 March* the Secretariat sends the draft comments endorsed
by the Bureau to the CDMSI for approval by *20 March* and further
transmission to the Committee of Ministers.
