Dear all

This year is the year of WSIS+10 so this has a direct impact, and
longer-term implications for what happens at this year's IGF and the
IGF's own future as well as its role in other global consulations.

The recent CSTD session of UNCTAD who deliberate over the (fate of) the
IGF has produced an outcome document; here it is below in the form of a
Draft Resolution, /"Assessment of the progress made in the
implementation of and follow-up to the outcomes of the World Summit on
the Information Society" /is now online:

http://unctad.org/meetings/en/SessionalDocuments/ecn162015_DraftRes_WSIS_en.pdf

Mention of the IGF is 4/9 and 5/9 with a range of other familiar points
of agreement, and disagreement covered in this 9-page document.

FYI, an informal working group, one of four, was formed during the
UNESCO meeting in February. I am convening the group looking at how
human rights do, and should figure on the upcoming WSIS+10 meeting
agenda. We have an etherpad open for comments and input with the aim of
developing links between work achieved so far in conjunction with the
contribution that the IRPC Charter has made in this area to present,
along with other like-minded projects (e.g. CoE Guide, Marco Civil,
UNHRC Resolutions) to consider how human rights do, and should figure on
the upcoming WSIS+10 meeting agenda.

How to move forward and in what ways that can be as inclusive as
possible are the next steps. All input welcome
